Neighborhood environments can play an important role in supporting or discouraging physical activity. This brief highlights ways that communities in the Healthy Eating, Active Communities (HEAC) and the Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program (CCROPP) initiatives have created safer parks and opened school grounds to increase physical activity opportunities.
