Rob Nicholson, who has previous experience working for non-profits and for profit companies, initially retired but realized the retirement life wasn’t for him, joined the Samuels Center in 2013 as a Grants Associate. As the Grants Associate at the Samuels Center, Rob manages the grants and contracts systems and budgeting and fiscal reporting. His prior experience includes project and program management, budgeting and cost control, human capital management, recruiting and proposal writing.
Prior to joining the team at the Samuels Center, Rob was a Program Director with BAE Systems in VA where he was an on-site manager on a Bureau of Labor Statistics IT software development and infrastructure contract. Prior to BAE, he held various IT positions on Army Corps of Engineers, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, Dept. of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission contracts and staff positions with Fannie Mae, Air Transport Association and the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Rob holds an M.A. in sociology from the Catholic University and a PMP certification.
In his free time, Rob enjoys visiting his sons in Long Beach and San Francisco, reading Scandinavian mysteries, hiking, photography, hockey and cooking.
