Phone: 510-271-6799 Laura Torres, BA 1222 Preservation Park Way Laura Torres joined the Samuels Center in May 2014 as Program Associate. In this role, she provides overall support for the Center’s community-based research and evaluation work, maintains the FoodBEAMS® nutrient database, participates in data collection, conducts data entry, and participates in the overall team effort to identify new funding opportunities. Laura is a recent graduate from the University of California at Berkeley where she studied public health. In previous work, as an intern at La Clinica de La Raza’s planning department, she developed an online curriculum to increase physician’s awareness about dementia. Laura also volunteered as a health educator for the Peer Health Exchange where she facilitated workshops about STIs and HIV and also worked as an outreach worker for the Berkeley Free Clinic to provide information about HIV and reproductive health. She is a native Spanish Speaker. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as swimming, biking, and playing soccer, and also loves to cook and travel! |
