Implementation of California State School Competitive Food and Beverage Standards
The availability of competitive foods in schools has been linked to a decrease in students’ consumption of fruits, vegetables, and other nutrients. This Journal of School Health research article describes the results of an evaluation measuring adherence to California State School Competitive Food and Beverage standards. Results showed that schools have begun to implement competitive food and beverage policies. However, school environments, particularly in secondary schools, are not 100% compliant with school nutrition standards.
